October 30, 2004 - Brie #01 went to her forever home. She will be enjoying of her new life in Milford, New Hampshire with her dad Shawn, mom Kristie and canine brother CJ. It didn’t take her long to settle in and steal the hearts of her new family. After 24 hours her new Dad says "its like she has been with us for years".

Congratulations to Brie, Shawn, Kristie and CJ for being united at last!!!

September 12, 2004 - Baron #02 was adopted by Anne & Doug of Oxford, CT.

Doug and I met Baron when we evaluated him for the RRUFF program at the end of August. He had been at the shelter for almost a month - time for a change - he didn't deserve that life! He spent the night at our house after he was neutered before being transported up to MA for foster. When I returned from the transport, Doug informed me that the family had talked and they all agreed that they'd like to adopt Baron if I wanted him as well. He and our current dog, Ben, got along quite well, so I didn't see why he shouldn't become our dog.

Fast forward two days ... I had taken the day off from work, so I drove back to MA to pick him up! I'm not sure if he remembered me or if he was just being his normal wiggly goofy self, but he loaded up into the car as easy as can be, and off we went ... he slept most of the way home, occasionally poking his head up to make sure I was still there (he doesn't understand the concept of driving - ha ha ha!).

He's been with us for almost a month and he occassionally sleeps on the floor at the foot of the bed, but most of the time he's content in his 'room' (the ExPen) at night, or while we're at work. Doug and Baron will be attending Basic Obedience classes and Doug thinks he might get a CD title before Ben (who already has leg 1 of 3) ... not bad for a dog who lived in a shelter for a month! He's got training in that big head of his, including house manners - he knows 'sit', 'down', 'give paw', and his leash manners improve daily ... his only fault that we've found is he really likes to try to get into the garbage (and has succeeded once) and he likes to hog tennis balls (but will drop it in an instant if a treat is offered).

All in all Baron is what we were looking for in a second dog - although we were looking for a young female ... we ended up with a 2 year old male! Sometimes you never know what you'll get if you're not really looking!
